Winter Warmers (Red)
This pack features (l to r):
(Priorat, Spain) Lectores Vini - Priorat Classic 2018
All the dark fruits and complexity that make Priorat one of Spain's premier wine regions, but without the excessive use of oak, the eye-watering alcohol levels, or the overblown styles that can sometimes be made here. Instead, we have a fascinating wine of freshness but that doesn't lose the structure that is to be expected from this hot and arid climate. The nose on this is bliss... Black cherries, rhubarb, crunchy red fruits and sweet spices.
(Piemonte, Italy) Borgatta - Lamilla 2015
Aged and serious Dolcetto from a 83-yr old producer. Rustic, complex, yet soft and strikingly elegant. The fruit is very much alive and vibrant, yet it is now also showing notes of leather/ tobacco, and spices. For fans of Barbaresco.
(Tavel, Southern Rhone, France) Balazu des Vaussieres - Cuvée Mauve 2016
Another wonderful aged wine - this blend of Grenache, Syrah, Carignan, and Cinsault is aged in tank for four years and in bottle for one year prior to release. The result is strikingly unique. Full of energy, juice fruit, and buckets of spice.
