(Piemonte, Italy) Zerbetta - Rossetto 2019
A unique and very light red. Though this estate primarily makes Barbera, Paolo has a tiny bit of Cabernet and Merlot planted on his property which he uses every year for this very young and experimental wine. Just a couple of hours on the skins gives it enough colour to qualify as a red but feels more like a deep rosé. Very interesting profile of spice cherry, almost cherry-cola(ish). Very fresh and vibrant.
(Sicily, Italy) Valdibella - Dhyana 2019
Such a joy of a wine. A textured and complex rosé made from the hyper-local Perricone grape from Sicily's west coast. Very enticing colour, notes of juicy watermelon, and a softness that makes this go down all too easily. Perfect for a sunny afternoon but equally at home on the dinner table.
(Burgenland, Austria) Joiseph - Rosatant 2019
Fizzy, cloudy and funky, this unique rosé made from Blaufrankisch is sure to go down very fast. The colour is deep but so unique, and the tingling bubbles add to the freshness. Lovely spicy fruit, soft texture, and a slightly creamy finish.
(Ribeira Sacra, Spain) Silice Viticultores - Rosado 2019
Brand new wine from these guys! This first vintage is wonderful... a serious rosé made from mainly Mencia. This is complex, herbal, soft, saline, and fresh. Pale and dry but far from from your standard rosé. Beautiful long finish, the wine really lingers on the palate.
(Hlohovec, Slovakia) Slobodne - La Rose et Le Vampire 2019
Look at that colour. This is a blend of Blaufrankisch and Cabernet, direct pressed, and aged in egg-shaped tanks for 8 months. Salmon colour, spicy, earthy, complex, but sooo juicy.
(Douro, Portugal) Folias de Baco - Renegado 2019
From one old vineyard planted with both white and red varieties, over 20 different local varieties are harvested and vinified together with a short maceration to create this super zingy, uber fresh dark rosé. Low alcohol, high acidity, the perfect drop for a hot afternoon.
