Spirals - Oriol 2018

The sixth edition of our special series of one-off collaborative wines is a Graciano made from old vines in the Bardenas Reales desert in Navarra, Spain. It is a special wine that was made as a school project in 2018 by then 9-year old Oriol Tort, son of Maria Barrena who is the winemaker at Azul y Garanza. He harvested the grapes, footstomped them, guided the fermentation and aged the wine in small barrels for 2 years before bottling with zero additions. 

We were blown away by the story but most importantly by how good the wine is! Oriol always had the idea of selling the wine and donating all of the profits so it was the perfect fit to adorn the Spirals label, our own charity project where 100% of the profits are donated every year.
