Manteca Volume 1 - A Valdibella x Manteca Collaboration
In the Spring of 2023 we flew out to Sicily with our friends at Manteca Restaurant in London to briefly immerse ourselves in the wonderful Valdibella universe - a socially conscious and boundary pushing 'beyond-organic' cooperative doing some really wonderful things with wine and produce in the western part of the island.
Following an afternoon of tasting in the cellar, this absolutely delicious wine was created from three separate elements, and blended by the Manteca team to work perfectly alongside their food.
The grapes are 40% Catarratto Extra Lucido, 40% Grillo, and 20% Catarratto with extended skin contact (all from the 2022 vintage). The result is a perfectly balanced white with a very gentle structure, beautiful aromatics, and layers of complexity.
Drinks perfectly on its own, but if you are lucky enough to live close to Manteca restaurant it has to be experienced alongside their incredible food.
