Duo One - Subtlety & Delicacy
In Top-Drop Duos we showcase some of the lesser-seen bottles on our list, some of the rarities we rarely showcase in tastings and some of our most prized cuvées.
Duo one is all about the subtle and delicate touches that often define the wines we love best.

(Ribeira Sacra, Spain) Silice Viticultores - Blanco 2018
A rare white wine made in the tiniest of quantities from a region dominated by reds. This blend of Albariño, Palomino , and Treixadura is soft, subtly complex, and slightly textured with a real mineral and saline backbone. It was fermented in barrels but partly aged in steel so it has a lovely roundness but with a fresh and crisp finish. A serious white from one of the world's most underrated regions.
Silice Viticultores is a collaboration between three friends who sought to unite old parcels in the canyons of the mythical Sil river. Extreme viticulture, jaw-dropping landscapes, and fanatical dedication yield some of Spain's most exciting wines.
(Burgundy, France) Domaine de Thalie - Balancin 2018
Serious Burgundy Pinot Noir. This single-vineyard, 2,000 bottle production wine comes from limestone soils at 400 meters of altitude in a village subzone of the Mâcon appellation. It's vinified with 70% whole bunches and aged in old barrels for one year. Plenty of earthy notes around the fresh and electric red fruits. Fantastic freshness but also a soft structure. This is drinking beautifully now but has a long life ahead.
Made by Peter Gierszewki, a first generation Burgundian of Polish parents who started this small 4.5 ha estate in 2009 with a view to push the limits of natural farming in his parcels, an ethos he also brings into the cellar. Beautiful naturally made Burgundy wines but with a very strong sense of belonging.
