Clos Sauvage - 'Cocagne' Saint Amour 2021
An extremely refined and beautifully balanced expression of Gamay from the special volcanic 'Pierres Bleues' of the Saint Amour cru in Northern Beaujolais. Juicy of course, however with a lovely structure, a true depth of layered fruit, density without weight.. a true masterclass in top Beaujolais wine.
Sophie and David of Clos Sauvage have been making wine in a beautiful corner of their region at 450m of altitude on the exact border between Burgundy and Beaujolais since 2018. Their aim from the start has been to create an autonomous farm where vines are grown alongside many other products, where cows and horses roam on adjacent pastures, where bees are kept, and where farmstays are possible.
