Balazu des Vaussieres - Cuvée Coquelicot 2015

(Tavel, Southern Rhone, France) 

A very unique, terroir driven mature red from the Southern Rhone. This single-vineyard old-vine Grenache spent five years in tanks before being bottled and rested for another half year. Dark forest fruit alongside spices, tobacco, liquorice, caramel, really distinct and earthy. So much character, so much complexity and all within a silky structure.

Made by Nadia and Christian, whose commitment to natural farming goes far beyond the requirements of organic and biodynamic standards. The result are wines infused with their own distinctive energy.
