Balazu des Vaussieres - Cuvée Hysope 2017

(Tavel, Southern Rhone, France) 

A rare example of a matured natural red. This medium bodied blend of Grenache, Mourvèdre, Carignan, and Cinsault spent four years in tanks before being bottled and rested for another half year. Dark forest fruit alongside spices, tobacco, liquorice, caramel, really distinct and earthy. So much character in such a lean wine. 

Made by Nadia and Christian, whose commitment to natural farming goes far beyond the requirements of organic and biodynamic standards. The result are wines infused with their own distinctive energy.
