Bring The Noise
In this bundle we feature the leftfield, the wild, the quirky.
from l to r:
(Piemonte, Italy) Cascina Zerbetta - Shan Pan 2020
A unique sparkling wine made from Sauvignon Blanc in Italy's Northwest. This wine is refermented using no sugar or yeast additions, but rather using grape juice extracted from late harvest grapes of the same vineyard. It's funky, toasty, aromatic, and the perfect balance of fruit and yeasty complexity. Its soft bubbles make it a pleasure to drink. Made by Paolo Malfatti, a Piemonte native who planted his vines on previously unused land in Monferrato in the late 90's. In this picturesque corner of Italy's Northwest, vines grow alongside organic hazelnuts and wild plants.
(Douro, Portugal) Folias de Baco - Anfora 2019
A recent release from Tiago Sampaio, made from two hyper local and nearly extinct varieties - Samarrinho and Donzelihno. The wine spent 11 months on its skins in large amphoras and was bottled shortly thereafter. Gorgeous citrusy complexity, floral, herbal, long finish. Made by Tiago Sampaio, a grower who took over his Grandparents' vineyards and 2007 and has progressively become one of Portugal's most sought after natural wine producers.
(Hlohovec, Slovakia) Slobodne - Rebela Rosa 2020
Very moreish and textured rosé from one of Slovakia's most sought after producers. This blend of Blaufrankisch and Cabernet Sauvignon is fermented and aged in clay amphoras, and displays buckets of spice, tingly forest fruits, and just enough of a herbal edge to add interest whilst keeping it accessible. A delight, and suitable for all weather. Slobodne are a fascinating family-run winery going back to the early 20th century. They rebuilt their farm over the past 25 years following a 50-yr break due to the hardships of WWII and then 40 years of communism. Now run by two sisters and their two partners, they are making some of the most exciting skin-contact wines around today.
