La Calmette - Résurgences 2021

A totally unique, totally singular white from a region known for its reds. This comes from an experimental block planted by Maya and Nicolas in 2017 and containing Noual, Sylvaner, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chenin Blanc. The grapes are fermented and aged in a large Alsatian barrel for over two years where the wine develops some mildly oxidative notes and heaps of complexity. One of the most mind-bending yet elegant whites on our list, and a must-try for all fans of top end Chenin Blanc or Jura-style whites. 

Domaine La Calmette was started in 2015 by Maya & Nicolas, a talented couple who bring not only a thorough knowledge of viticulture but also a meticulously researched scientific backbone to their natural wines. Explosive, bursting with life and vibrancy.
