Colombo Wines - I Wonder If You Are Lonesome Tonight 2023

100% Syrah. For this wine, Daniel took inspiration from Southern Rhone but wanted to create a uniquely South African Syrah. He did this by taking 70% of the grapes from a warm region, Swartland, that was picked earlier, and 30% from a cool region, Botriver, that was left on the vine to be picked later in the season. The combination created this wine with a tightrope tension, perfectly balanced between the fresh backbone of acid and a charming black fruit character on the palate.

Daniel Colombo is a winemaker with a clear philosophy, a minimalist approach in the vineyard and winery that highlights the purity of the fruit and unique expressions of terroir. Daniel is best experienced in his own words, and says of the project ‘My wines are part of an idea.
